A rare first edition of Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) book "A Tramp Abroad", as found in apparently scarce original leather covers rather than the more commonly seen cloth. The book has the ad after page 631 and "Moses" rather than "Titian's Moses" in the frontispiece, indicating an early state. I am not a book specialist so am pointing out characteristics that I see suggest rarity and early state. The book's front cover is almost completely separated, and pages up to the "Illustrations" list are separated from the binding. The leather spine shows considerable wear but the lettering portion remains; bottom portion of the spine is missing. There is damp stain of Twain's engraved portrait in the front, as well as some nearby pages. A long-ago owner, whose name is written in the front, pressed some flowers or grasses in the book and I have left them inside for the sake of originality. They have been there for a very, very long time.
