Watercolor painting of famous Union Square in downtown San Francisco, the St. Francis Hotel at right, so the view looking southwest. The work measures 14 1/2" by 21 1/2" (21" by 28" as framed). It is signed at lower right by well listed artist SUN YING (1919-2016). The artist was born in China. His scroll paintings and other works in the traditional style seem to bring large amounts of money at auction in China. Apparently later in life he moved to San Francisco, and watercolors of that city's familiar scenes are seen in the marketplace. This is an exceptional example of his work. There is a hairline abrasion near the traffic light at left center, and a barely noticeable very evenly dispersed tiny pinpoint foxing.
