Pencil signed 1986 color print "The Buffalo Hunters", numbered at lower left margin 214/1000 and pencil signed at lower right margin by the well-known contemporary western American art master FRED FELLOWS (1934-). The large print (18" by 34" inside the double mat), 24" by 40" as framed, is a typical example of the work of this realist western and cowboy genre artist, known for both sculpture and painting. Fellows was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl, which sent his family heading to California. Fellows spent his youth there, even working for a time as a cowboy, but never forgot his Oklahoma roots, which inspired his art. Fellows became president of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America organization in 1997 and again in 2003. His paintings and bronzes have sold at important western American art auctions, and major western museums retain examples in their permanent collections. See the website of the artist.
