Circa 1925 antique or vintage (about 100 years old!) framed ornate manuscript style ode to the home and house, from the writings of poet and author Maurine Hathaway, with gilt background and intriguing spots of color, measuring 10 1/2" by 9 1/2" fully opened out. The piece is hinged in the middle so is meant to stand on its own on a table top. I do not believe the color and gilt hand applied, though, it gives that appearance. The inspiration is clearly from medieval manuscripts. Condition is excellent. Apparently the name "Buzza Motto" (new to me) comes from a George Buzza who in the year 1907 began to produce these generally sweet and sentimental pieces meant to decorate the home. Common themes are the home and hearth, friendship, sympathy upon a death, and so forth.
