An excellent clean fresh copy of the first edition of the 2012 book "An Evening with Marilyn", signed by the photographer DOUGLAS KIRKLAND and inscribed to an admirer/friend "George". The high quality printing, three pound book and dust jacket measures approximately 14" by 10". It is lavishly illustrated with color and black and white photos of the 1961 interlude between then-little known photographer Douglas Kirkland and the famous sex symbol. Kirkland, then quite young, came to have been invited to photograph her on an unmade bed, and the images are now iconic. In this book he tells in a wonderful, first-person fashion, the tale of that encounter and the intense eroticism of the experience. He went on to a distinguished career in photojournalism, having done work from Life/Look Magazines in the 1960's and 1970's. His photos of Marilyn, Elizabeth Taylor and other major celebrities of the century have established his now worldwide legacy. Note that while there appear to be four signatures on the dust jacket and in the first pages of the book, three of them are printed facsimiles; only the one with the October 2012 inscription is original.
