A highly decorative original pochoir print of flowers in a vase, within a blue circle, singed in the print by the noted French artist and fashion illustrator GEORGES LEPAPE (1887-1971). The print measures 15 1/4" by 12" inside the double mat, and 25 3/4" by 21 3/4" as framed. Lepape was born in Paris. He was educated at the Ecole des Beaux Arts 1908-1910. The young artist met Paul Poiret around this time as well as Georges Braque and Marie Laurencin. Influenced by Orientalism as well as Ballet Russes, he came to be recognized by the fashion industry, as a result of his skills in drawing and printmaking relating to that sector. By 1926 he was invited to work in New York. In his career peak, Lepape provided work for publications such as Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and Vogue. Later in life, he turned to book illustration.
