A small watercolor and ink drawing of the famous old Brulatour courtyard, 520 Royal Street in the New Orleans Vieux Carre (French Quarter), signed at lower right and dated there '51 (and titled/signed/dated again on the reverse backing) by New Orleans artist E. ALVA EDWARDS. Internet research suggests but cannot confirm that this be a work by one EDWIN ALVA EDWARDS JR. (1914-1988) of the Baton Rouge area. The clean piece measures 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" as framed. There does not appear to be an artist of note by the name and the surname "Edwards" is common in the state, but various internet details point to this being our artist. Condition of drawing is excellent; the period frame has a little rubbing at left. See other New Orleans and Louisiana works in my shop.
