Here’s a brightly colored, basse-taille enameled peacock charm: feathers fully fanned. Peacocks add to the beautiful colors of Mexico, roaming about freely. The back of the charm is marked “MEXICO 925” and eagle “15” mark. Although eagle number “15” was used by such famous silversmiths as Los Castillo and Antonio Pineda, this piece was very, very likely to have been made by Castelan who used only eagle number “15” and did some work with silver and enamel (although, he worked mostly with just sterling silver). The charm measures 1 1/8” x 3/4” and is in excellent condition.
