A group of 6 small flake blades from the Danish Mesolithic Maglemose culture. Flint, heights between 2" and 2 7/8". All in excellent condition. These were purchased at auction from an old German collection with no collection data. All are beautifully worked and patinated blades. There is a variety of different patina which leads me to believe that they are not all from the same site. The first and third blades from the left are patinated in such a way as to indicate that they spent some time either under the sea or in immediate proximity to the sea. The others have a "ground" patina, indicative of being buried in an area with less organic material in the soil. The blades date to approximately 9000-6000 BCE.
