2 Neolithic blades, one a retouched knife/sickle, and one a blade blank. Flint, heights 5 1/2" and 6 5/8". Both in excellent condition, legal surface finds. Larger blades such as these were struck from the large flint pebbles found in the Grand-Pressigny region, leaving behind the large sculptural cores known as the "livres du beurre" (butter loaves) (see my stock numbers 2784, 2160 and 2249 for examples). Often these blades were struck off from the cores and left unfinished, and then traded to people who would finish them to the desired form. Examples of the Grand-Pressigny flint in this form have been found as far as Russia. Dating to approximately 8000-5000 BCE.
