Large Neanderthal multi-tool on a levallois flake. Flint, height 5 3/8". Tourraine (Indre et Loire), France. legal surface find, missing one chip on the proximal end. Large and hefty multi-tool, with an extended slightly convex notched scraper on one side and a denticulate saw-like blade on the other. The distal end has an abrupt scraper, though thick enough to have perhaps also served as a chopping edge or cleaver. Larger notch near the proximal end, and what looks like the slight remains of some sort of scraper on the extended point on the proximal end, between the notch and the missing chip. 80,000-50,000 BCE.
