A large Mode 1 pebble tool on a flint nodule from Grand Pressigny, France. Excellent condition with a primarily cortex surface and a lovely, glossy ground patina on the exposed flint. 4 1/8"x 4". Legal find from a dried river channel. A straightforward hard hammer percussion technique (stone on stone) was used to make this pebble tool. Signs of use/wear along the edges of the exposed flint. Made by Heidelberg Man. Dates to 650,000 BCE.
