A group of four larger Neanderthal tools. Jasper and chert, heights between 3 1/4" and 3 3/4".Varying ground patinas, all four are in excellent condition, one small chip missing on the concave scraper edge on the lithic second from the left. Legal excavation finds, Marbach, Germany. The two lithics to the right are burins or borers, both with double burin tips, and the second from the right exhibits a roughly made scraper edge. On the furthest right tool the concave edge at the bottom of the photo may have functioned as a rudimentary scraper or shaft straightener as well. All four date to approximately 60,000-40,000 BCE.
