Very nice group of four smaller Neanderthal multi-tools on flakes from Fontmaure, France. All beautiful examples of the famous Fontmaure jasper, all in excellent condition with semi-glossy ground patina. Legal surface finds, heights between 1 3/4" and 2 1/8". Each of these tools, despite their smaller size, are equipt with at least two functional scraper/blade edges. There are also notches, shaft straighteners and burin tips as well. Conceptionally remarkable examples of Neanderthal stonework. Date to approximately 80,000-50,000 BCE.
