A mode 2 lower Paleolithic biface axe, Heidelberg Man. Flint, in excellent condition, with an amazing, glasslike ground patina. Legal surface find from Grand-Pressigny, France. 4 7/8"x 3 1/4". There is one ancient chip missing, the gap totally patinated, and as this is on the distal end it is indicative of having occurred early on during use. Dates to approx. 650,000 BCE.
