A beautiful rare etched paitong basin depicting court ladies playing chess in the center. Around the inside of the basin there are scenes of scholars, artists, falconer etc. Around the inside edge is etched the "shou" characters representing good luck and fortune. Size: Diameter: 42.5cm. A very unusual & original Han well with the "jing" design, symbol for well and two intertwined snakes for the handle. There is some iridescence at the bottom of the base of the green glaze from age.
