A very rare Chinese jade of a stylized bird. The jade is translucent of a green and brown mottled coloration. Carved with a minimum of design giving an it a minimalistic, abstract look. It has large convex circles for eyes. The back has two interconnecting holes for passing a string through. The back has a naturally occurring hairline fissure of a dark reddish brown coloration. Has some calcification from long burial. Size: H = 1-3/8", W = 1-3/4"

A beautiful nineteen century woven temple carpet with nice design. The center pattern features 3 large multi-colored abstract florals against a black background that is surrounded by a blue & white keyfret design frame. The center florals include stylized lingzhi fungus combined in the design. The outer edge features abstract cloud and water patterns. These designs symbolize longevity, fertility and good luck. An unusual jade male dancer with his legs twirling around each other, one arm on his chest the other straight down on his side. Most of the color of the jade is gone except for some remnants of the original jade still remaining. I have strung him to be worn as a pendent. Age: Han Dynasty. Size:5.4cm. Condition: No repairs.

A Beautifully carved tube shaped jade. It is hard to date this piece and say that it is from the Hongshan period (3000BC). It is most likely from a later period as these item are extremely rare. Liao Flask shaped like a leather prototype with a vertical spout and a loop handle on the other side, both rising from a tall ovoid body covered in a rich glossy amber glaze, stopping above the foot to reveal the buff stoneware. A beautiful quadratic prism shaped translucent brown jade with two ring carved on each end. The jade is strung with three old Chinese beads. Age; Song or earlier Size: 3.4 x 2.1cm. Condition: No chips.

A very rare and beautifully carved blackwood table. The carvings represent good luck symbols with key fret designs,lingzhi fungus, floral, tendril, and coins. The front and the back are a mirror images of each other, and the two sides also have mirror image carvings on both ends. The legs are straight and not curved as seen in the wide angle photo. A pear-shaped vase freely painted with foliate designs in a dark chocolate brown glaze over a white slip. The slightly flared footrim is also painted in dark chocolate brown. A very rare gilt figure of Buddha with hands in the earth-touching gesture. The facial features are characteristic of Burmese Buddhas of the time with very large ears and nose.

A sansai-glazed Tang Dynasty pottery tripod censer. Most sansai-glazed pottery include green and amber glazes - this vessel is glazed in blue and amber glazes. Blue sansai-glazed pottery is very rare since the blue color was made from cobalt imported from the Middle East and was very expensive at the time. Blue cobalt glazed sancai pieces go for much higher prices because of the preciousness of the ingredient and how scarcely it was used...

A rare carved jade of an old man with a beard. Half of the jade on top is translucent and the bottom bottom half opaque. It is from the Hunan culture which was absorbed by the Han as their control spread over the whole of China. Size: H. 3.8cm. W. 1.3cm. See last three photos.

A rare and unusual bronze seal written in the ancient Tibetan language. Size: 2.9 x 2.6cm Condition: Nice patina. The finial has a piece missing.

Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. Condition: No repairs. cracks or chips.

A pottery whistle in the form of an unusual face with its lips puckered as if whistling. The top of the whistle has green and brown glazes (sansai glaze) - the bottom is unglazed. The glaze has a very fine crackle. Under magnification, tiny pits can be seen on the fine crackle, which is consistent with the appearance of glazes for pieces of this period.

Period: Tang (618 - 907 AD)

A Cizhou ceramic pillow with an ivory colored glaze which continues to a little above the base. The center of the headrest is painted fluidly with a floral spray in a brown iron pigment while a loose band of three freely incised lines encircle the flower. The base is left unglazed. Period: Song (10th Century) Size: Width = 23.5 cm (9-1/4 inches) Condition: No chips, cracks or repairs. Some loss of the glaze on both top edges.

A globular bodied vase painted in dark reddish brown on a white slip. The main body has three large sprays of flowers. A large brown band encircles the shoulder and below the floral sprays are several thin bands - some straight and some wavy. Typical of this type. Period: Song (10th - 11th Century) Size: Height 25 cm Width 20 cm.

A rare black and white Ching jade of a sleeping cat. Black and white jades are very rare and the carver uses the two colors to fit the carving making a beautiful black and white cat. A bronze figure of a sturdy-bodied Garuda with his arms and wings spread outwards. Vishnu, with his traditional implements including a discus, conch and mala is balanced atop Garuda's left shoulder and upright tail...

A nice Tibetan 108 bone prayer beads with two leather counters from Lhasa. The bone is most likely yak bone. It has two turquoise spacers and silver counter. Acquired in Lhasa, Tibet over 15 years ago. Size: 40cm X 2.

A unusual rare well carved jade pendant with a stylized head of a Zhou pig on top and tapering down into a fang or a claw.. The upper part of the jade is of a black and tan color and the tail is translucent. There is a hole at the back of the mouth for stringing. Size: L. 4.7cm. W. 1.2cm. Condition: See last photo.

A beautiful red glass bead necklace made from a court official's rank necklace. Made from very high quality matching glass beads. Most of these rank necklaces were broken apart during the cultural revolution. Size: 34cm folded. Bead size: 1cm. Condition: Very good. No chips etc.

An alloy metal Buddha sitting under a bodhi tree.This is where Buddha gained his great Enlightenment by sitting in concentrated meditation beneath the bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya in Bihar,India. Can be made into an amulet. Size: H. 6.3cm. W. 3.3cm. Condition: No repairs.

A rare wooden Buddha in a seated position on a lotus pedestal. The face is serenely contemplative and the robe is carved to show the gathered folds. Wooden Buddhas from this period are very difficult to find. This Buddha has a natural, calming presence.

Condition: The wood has shrinkage and cracks from age. The right ear and fingers of the left hand are missing...

A elegant lacquerware for monastery use. Made in Kyaukka, in the lower Chindwin District in Burma, made from woven matting and coiled bamboo and lacquered in black and red. This piece has six sections. These original Kyaukka pieces are difficult to come by. Size: H. 38cm. W. 38cm. Condition: No repairs. Very good condition.

A beautiful ancient glass bangle in blueish green color. This probably from Vietnam or Cambodia. Size: Outside diameter 6.9cm. Condition: Almost perfect. A very small almost invisible chip on the outside edge.

A nicely carved natural amber pendant of the Hand of Buddha Citron. There is a hole at the top on the piece so it can be worn as a pendant. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer. Size: L. 3.9cm. W. 1.5cm. Condition: Perfect.

A very rare and beautiful Pyu agate carved bird. A hole is drilled from the top of the head to the bottom of the bird so it can be worn as a pendant. The bird is still the symbol for Burma. Size: L. 3cm. Condition: Perfect. No repairs.

An ancient necklace made from fossilized wood also know as Pumtek. The word Pumtek means "buried thunderbolt". This type of necklace is very rare. Size: 56 cm from end to end.

A very rare carved wooden Buddha dating back to the 15th century or before. Size: H. 26.5cm. Condition: Natural ageing. The right hand is missing and a portion of the base has worn away.

A late 19th - early 20th century "Yun" lacquered betel box with incised design of two horses and riders, elephant and dancers. The box is divided into three pieces.
