A rare pair of authentic Ming glazed sansai pottery figures of an attendants on a hexagonal pedestals.Their long-sleeved robes are colored in finely crackled green and ochre glazes. Their life-like expressive faces are molded with exquisite detail. Usually attendant figures are based on actual attendants so attention was placed on capturing the person's real face and personality. This practice of creating pottery attendants was started during the time of the first Emperor to be used in place of living people. The attendent with the beard is a foreigner.
