This porcelain charger or platter was produced in Germany by Meissen between 1860 and 1880. It has the first quality blue crossed swords marking under the glaze. It is 11 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep. There is a 2 inch reticulated border. The center of the charger has a ring of tiny hand painted flowers in pastel colors. Directly in the center is a delicate medallion that looks like a snow flake. In 3 sections of the border are reserves with sprays of pastel colored flowers, surrounded by elaborate gilding. These areas are molded in high relief. The rims have a cobalt blue border. The edge is gilded. Condition: Excellent, first quality.

This porcelain slipper or shoe was produced in Germany by Meissen in the 1890s. It has first quality crossed swords markings under glaze. It measures 6 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches high. The porcelain is hand modeled in the shape of a Persian style slipper. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. There is a reserve on the front of the shipper with hand painted flowers, realistically painted in vibrant colors. It is framed with an elaborate hand gilded frame. The rims of the slipper are trimmed with lacy gilding. It is a unique piece that might be used as a ring dish. It is a wonderful collector piece. This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced at Meissen around 1800. It has the first quality under glaze blue crossed swords with a star under it. The saucer is 5 3/8 inches in diameter and is 1 1/4 inches deep. The cup is 2 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. the ground color is cobalt blue. The cup has a reserve with a portrait of Abelard and the saucer has a portrait of Heloise. There was a story of two lovers in 12th century France, Heloise and Abelard, who were denied permission to marry. They eloped and married against her father’s wishes. Heloise was beaten by her father and sent to live in a convent the rest of her life. It is a sad story portrayed in literature and art. Here is Meissen’s interpretation of the lovers’ tale of woe on porcelain. The exquisite portraits of the man and woman are framed in embossed gold. There are other gold accents and gold trim. This is a true artistic treasure. Condition: Light wear to gilding on rim of cup.

This porcelain flower pot with under plate was produced at the Meissen Factory in Germany between the 1890s and 1910. The under plate has a diameter of 7 1/2 inches and the pot measures 6 1/4 inches high and 7 1/4 inches in diameter. The porcelain is quite substantial and heavy. The pot is pierced in the bottom to let water drain. It is hand painted with vividly colored bunches of roses on both sides. There are little rose buds around the edge of the under plate. The rims are trimmed with gold. From my experience, this appears to be a rather uncommon object made by Meissen. They took a utilitarian object and created an elegant flower pot. Condition: Excellent. It was gently used.

The plate is made of the finest quality hard paste porcelain ever produced in the Western Hemisphere. It measures 9 ½ inches in diameter. The reticulated border is cut out by hand. The center of the plate has a hand painted scene of Galileo reading a book and inventing the geometric compass. The painting is after the artist Byieu, Dutch master. There are butterflies and flower buds dotting each piece. Lacy gilding trims the rims. They are priced individually. Condition: There is wear to the gilding on the rims. There are light surface scratches in the centers. One plate has two glazed-over nicks in the foot ring that occurred in the manufacturing process.
