This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Hungary by Herend in the 1870s. The set is modeled after cups and saucers of the Chinese Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties in the 18th century in the Famille Rose pattern. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches and is 1 ¼ inches high. The cup is 2 inches high and the opening has a diameter of 3 1/8 inches. Both pieces are double walled and reticulated. The cup features a figural handle of a lizard. The interior of the cup and surface of the saucer are hand enameled with flowers and foliage nearly identical to the original Chinese design. The intricate design around the borders is precisely the same. The porcelain on the bottom of each piece is molded with a blossom. This is a masterpiece by Herend and a masterpiece in the world of cups and saucers. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Berlin, Germany by the Royal Porcelain Manufacturer, known as KPM, in the 1890s. It has the under glaze blue scepter and over glaze red orb with the letters KPM. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/8 inches and is 1 1/4 inches deep. The cup is 2 1/8 inches high with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The hard paste porcelain is one of the finest quality ever produced. Both pieces have molded cartouches of rococo scrolls and leaves, painted in heavy gold that frames vignettes of lovers in gardens. The paintings are artistically rendered in fine detail and vivid colors. The remaining surfaces of both pieces have an aqua ground color overlaid with elaborate hand gilding. The effect is similar to a silk tapestry. The inner rim of the cup has a band of gold filigree. There is gold trim on the handle and rims. This is more than a cup and saucer. It is a rare and splendid work of art. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Chelsea between 1756 and 1769. It has a gold anchor painted over the glaze. There are many copies of the gold anchor mark used through the decades but we guarantee that this cup and saucer is authentic. The saucer has a diameter of 4 5/8 inches and the cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The ground color is burgundy. Reserves of hand painted flowers decorate both pieces. Rich tooled gilding frame the reserves. The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. CONDITION: There is slight wear and some scratches to the burgundy ground on the saucer. The gold rim on the cup has touches of wear at high points. These flaws are very minor when age and rarity are taken into consideration. There are no other defects or restoration.

This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg around 1815. Both pieces are marked with the impressed Nymphenburg shield. The diameter of the saucer is 5 1/8 inches and it is 1 1/4 inches deep. The cup is 3 5/8 inches high and has a diameter of 3 inches. The cup is hand painted with a scene of a maiden spinning yarn. It may have allegorical significance since it is painted in the neoclassical style. The maiden is painted with fine detail and bright coloring. The handle, interior of the cup and foot are gilded in heavy gold. There are gilded bands on the saucer as well. This is a rare example of Nymphenburg neoclassical style porcelain. The porcelain body of both pieces is fluted with scalloped edges. There are cobalt blue borders. There is hand painted decoration of red ribbons attached to garlands of fruit. The borders are accented with gilding. Condition: But for some minor wear to the gilding on the edges, this set is in excellent condition.

This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory known as KPM around 1835. The signature is in blue under the glaze. The cup is entitled “Das Konigl: Opernhaus u: Bluchers Stanbild.” Roughly translated it means “The Konigl Opera House at Blucher’s Statue”. The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/4 inches and the cup measures 3 inches tall with a diameter of 3 5/8 inches. The front of the cup features a hand painted depiction of the location noted. It is painted with precision and skill. There are wide bands of gilding trimming each piece. Topographical cups and saucers help preserve the memory of monumental historical architecture. Condition: There is light wear to the interior gilding of the cup and to a thin band just below the painting. It is minor considering the age and rarity of the set.

This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Manufactory KPM around 1835. The cup is 3 3/4 inches tall with a diameter of 3 ½ inches. The saucer has a diameter of 6 inches. It is inscribed “Andenhen an den 8ten Funi 1835” on the front of the cup, translated as Commemoration of the 8th of June 1835. The bottom of the cup is inscribed “Zur Erinnerung von F.G. Weise aus Wulften” or “As a reminder of F.G. Weise from Wulften” The cup has three claw feet and an ornate handle. There is a hand painted scene on the front of the cup of a sumptuous estate with a man and woman in the foreground. The painting is precise in perspective. Historical events and architectural achievements were documented for posterity on cups and saucers such as this one. Condition: The gilding on the saucer has minor wear. There is very minor wear to the gold trim on the 3 feet of the cup.

This porcelain tea cup with lid and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Berlin, c. 1870s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and is 1 inch deep. The cup is 3 1/4 inches high including the lid. The set is made of fine white hard paste porcelain. The decoration is inspired by Japanese design. The lid has an applied flower bud and stem for its finial. The decoration is monochrome with tones of magenta. The flowers are placed off center in clusters and sprigs, very much like some designs used by Meissen. The rims are trimmed with chocolate brown enamel. It is quite rare to come across this type of cup and saucer with its lid intact. Condition: Excellent

The decoration of this cup is inspired by the Chinese. The ground color is pale yellow. The cup has two reserves containing hand painted flowers. There are flowers scattered around the saucer. There are tiny flowers painted on the applied handle. There is a single blossom in the bottom the cup. Condition: The saucer has a filled in chip and a 3/4 inch tight crack. Both pieces have wear to the gilded trim on the edges. Considering the age and rarity of this set, it is worthy of consideration and preservation.

This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Vienna, Austria in 1804. Impressed numbers on the bottom of the saucer indicate this year. It has an underglaze cobalt blue bee hive marking on both pieces. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and is 1 3/4 inches high. The cup is 4 1/4 inches high, including the lid. The set is considered to be a “trembleuse” with the attached gallery holding the cup on the saucer. The borders on each piece have a molded basket weave pattern. The set is hand painted with hunting scenes and flowers in Meissen style. The lid features a flower finial. Gilded accents trim the rims, handles and reticulated gallery of the saucer. This is a rare example of European porcelain to be enjoyed and preserved. Condition: Excellent.

It is common to have little nicks on the foot rings and some traces of wear to the gilding and paint, especially on 250 year old porcelain. There is nothing that detracts from this rare antique porcelain cup and saucer.
