For the set of 12 plates.
This set of 12 porcelain plates was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1904. The date codes contained in the mark indicate this year. The plates measure 8 1/4 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches deep. The porcelain has finely reticulated borders that have a slight rippled shape. Shells are molded into the border in high relief. The decoration uses the color “celeste blue” that Sevres made famous. Wonderful birds and butterflies are hand painted in brilliant colors around the bouquets of flowers in the center. The interior of the plates are embellished with swags of flowers and ornate gilded trim. These exquisite plates are as light as snowflakes and they have been preserved with care.
