This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany at the Wehsner Dresden Studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches and the cup is 1 3/8 inches high with a diameter of 3 ¾ inches. The interior of the cup has a scene with boy and girl cherubs dressed as chefs, one holding a lobster. The painting is beautifully done with fine detail. The outside of the cup and the surface of the saucer have an iridescent purple ground with gilded griffins and ornate scrolling. It is all raised gold with some enamel jeweled accents. The interior walls of the cup and the handle are richly gilded. The workmanship and style is very similar to that of Royal Vienna. Condition: Some of the gilding in the well of the saucer is worn.
