This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by Meissen in the 1880s. It is first quality and factory decorated. The plate measures 9 ½ inches in diameter. The porcelain is molded in high relief in various segments, some with medallions, floral patterns and a honeycomb pattern. The center of the plate has a Watteau scene of a young couple strolling in the woods.
The painting is of the highest quality in detail and style. Four medallions around the border have landscapes and harbor scenes done in puce. The whole plate is enameled and covered in amazing gilding. There are blue enamel beads around the rim. This plate is totally exquisite in every way.
Condition: With the exception of a couple of tiny bits of gilding missing, this plate is in excellent condition.
