This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany at the Donath Dresden Studio in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 4 ¼ inches and the cup is 2 ¼ inches without the handle. The cup features a bird shaped handle and pedestal base. The set has a cream colored ground. It has especially ornate raised and beaded gilding all over.
Bunches of hand painted flowers of exquisite delicacy are in four areas of the saucer and the front of the cup. A band of green enamel travels around each piece accented with raised white enamel beads or jewels. The inside rim of the cup has lacy gilding. The handle and rims are trimmed with gold. This is the most delightful confection of a demitasse cup and saucer.
