This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Maunfactory around 1770. The factory used only the under glaze blue scepter marking at that time. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and is 1 1/2 inches deep. The cup is 2 inches tall and 3 1/8 inches in diameter. Colorful, hand painted Watteau scenes decorate both pieces. 18th century lovers are spending time in the countryside engrossed in conversation. The borders are decorated with a green fish scale pattern punctuated with a knot of flowers here and there. The handle is accented with a feathering of purple enamel. The rims are trimmed with gold. This is a splendid example of an early KPM tea cup and saucer.
Condition: There is slight wear to gilding on rims.
