This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Coalport in the 1890s.
The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/4 inches. The cup is 2 1/8 inches tall with a diameter of 1 7/8 inches. The set is made of fine, white bone china. The cup is melon ribbed and blown out. The saucer has a scalloped rim. The ground color is rich cobalt blue. It is decorated with elaborate raised gold decorations. Gilded swags and raised gold beads accent the design. The interior of the cup, well of the saucer and handle are richly gilded. This is truly an product of the “Gilded Age”.
Condition: Excellent, with just a trace of wear to gilding, hardly noticeable. Both pieces “ring” when tapped.
