This set of 12 porcelain soup bowls was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg before 1920. They have an impressed shield mark as well as a printed mark. The diameter of these bowls is 7 1/2 inches. These bowls were decorated at the factory and are first quality. They are extremely translucent and lightweight. There is a molded basket weave decoration around the border and they have a slightly scalloped shape. Each bowl is individually hand painted with vivid floral sprays in the style of Meissen and Dresden china. All of the flowers are different. The bright colors and basket weave border give them a country feeling. One bowl has a chip on the rim but we felt it would be more useful to keep the set of 12 intact. That bowl would be included in the price for free. All of the other bowls are in excellent condition with no defects or signs of use.
