This pair of porcelain wall plaques was produced in France by an unknown porcelain manufacturer around 1870. There are no identifying marks except for an artist's signature, M. Rose. They have a diameter of 12 1/2 inches and are pierced for hanging. The borders of the plaques have a molded rococo style. Each plaque is hand painted with a different genre scene of the rural French countryside. It is pleasant to view these plaques with their comely women and children beside their gentle beasts. We are fortunate to have acquired this matched pair. These charming plaques are in excellent condition.
