This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Factory in 1886. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The saucer has a deep well preventing the cup from slipping off. The set is decorated in intricate Viennese style. The ground color is light cream. There are bands of ruby red enamel that have an iridescent glaze. Elaborate raised gilding that is minutely hand painted enhances the borders. Tiny jeweled enamel flowers complete the decoration. The center of the saucer contains a splendid medallion. Raised gold beaded trim and lacy gold are used in several areas. At the front of the cup is a gilded monogram.
Condition: The saucer has some wear to one band of lacy gold. With so much gold and decoration, this flaw is not detracting from the overall beauty of this elegant cup and saucer.
