It is made of Keyaki (Zelkova), Sugi (Cedar) and Hinoki (Cypress) woods. This beautiful tansu is perfect for any kitchen, dining room or living room.

This 2 section merchant chest or Choba Dansu is from Showa 58 (1983) according to some writing found on a drawer. It measures 61.75" high by 48.5" wide by 17" deep. It is made of Katsura, Keyaki (Zelkova) and plywood. The Choba Dansu was used by merchants and was traditionally used in shops to impress customers with their multiple drawers, sliding doors and lots of hardware.

This is a 2 section stacking Kimono chest called Isho Tansu. It measures 64.88" high by 42" wide by 18" deep. It was constructed entirely of Paulownia wood (Japanese Kirinoki) and there are 5 large trays and 2 small trays for Obi/ Kimono and drawers in the top section. There is Mulberrry wood (Kuwanoki) trim and fitting.

This is a Japanese antique medicine chest called Kusuri Dansu from the late Edo period (1850's-1860's) made of Kiri ( paulownia ) and Sugi ( cedar) wood. It measures 35.25" high by 35.25" wide by 7.63" deep. Used by a pharmicist, its purpose was for the storage of herbs and medicines. This type of chest has become increasingly rare over the years.

This is an incredible Jubako, lacquered stacking boxes from late 1800's. It measures 9.25" high by 10.25" wide by 8.25" deep. It has makie decorations with family crest which is known for Shimazu family in Kyushu. There are some chips on the edges, but considering its age, it is in a great condition. It had some ropes in the box which should be used to tie a box.

This is a mid. 19th Century Senju Kannon Buddha. It was decorated in gold gilt over wood. The hands symbolize the one thousand hands used to save followers of the Buddhist faith. An unusual feature is the Edo era round mirror called Kokyo incorporated into the center of the nimbus used to radiate light as it reflects the back of the head. This is a 1 piece tea chest called Cha Tansu that measures 47.75" wide by 52" high by 18" deep. Made of Zelkova (Keyaki) door panels and drawer fronts and Cedar (Suginoki) for the balance of the piece, it was lacquered in rich Urushi and retains its natural wood grain. Behind the sliding doors are decorative shelves where seasonal decorations could be displayed. Its age is from the 1890's to 1900 (mid Meiji era).
