Carl O. Holm, American, 1885-1918. This luminous winter landscape is 17 1/4" by 18 1/2" in a 3" American frame. It is signed lower right and dated 1918. Condition is excellent with no old repairs but canvas is on new strechers. Provenance: Private Midwestern Collection, Carl Holm was a brilliant artist who studied in Copenhagen and France. A painter of very fine impressionist landscapes and figures, he studied at Zahrtmann's School of Fine Art, Copenhagen and began exhibiting in 1908 at the age of twenty three. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1912 and died during the influenza epidemic of 1918. Because of this his paintings are very rare.
