Guy Carleton Wiggins N.A., Chicago and Florida, 1883-1962. This painting is from his series of landscapes painted in 1910's to 1930's in Old Lyme Connecticutt. It is about 36" by 30" in a 1 1/2" original frame, signed lower right Wiggins '31. It is in excellent condition with a very small amount of inpainting on the very lower edge and the left hand edge. It is unlined with no other repairs. Wiggins is well known for his snow scenes and then also did a smaller group of landscapes very similar to this one. This painting is a very rare and stunning example of fauvism in American painting. He is listed in Who Was Who in American Art, Mallett, and Fieldings.
