Droochsloot (Droogsloot), Cornelis: School of Dutch, 1630-1673. This painting is of a Village Fair (Kermesse) and was painted in the 17th C. It is 21 ½” by 19” in very nice 18th C frame. It is apparently unsigned though remnants of a signature appear on the lower left. Droochsloot was known for Dutch city and country genre scenes. Benezit devoted more than a page to this artist.He was known for paintings of genre, religious subjects, animals and engravings.One of his favorite subject was the Village Kermesse or Village gathering such as this painting.
