Stuart, James Everett, San Fran, CA, 1852-1941. This impressive and large oil on canvas is a perfect example of Stuart at his best. It is a painting in Washington State entitled "After the Shower, Mt Olympus from Lake Cushman". It is 30" by 40" in the original and impressive turn of the century frame with framed dimensions 43" by 53". Everything is original including the handwritten artist's label with the title, the number of the painting #1426, and the advertisement/label from Stuart's Studio. It is in excellent condition and has had only a minor repair in the left upper sky. Stuart is considered a "romantic" and a "luminist" painter. He was well regarded in his lifetime and enjoyed many commissions from the upper class on the west coast. His work is in many museums including: Anchorage Museum and University of Alaska Museum,Alaska; Oakland Museum, CA; Hearst Art Gallery, CA; Crocker Art Museum, CA; Birmingham Museum of Art, AL; Fred Jones Museum of Art, OK; Museum of Art, Brigham Young, UT; Buffalo Bill Historical Center, WY.
