Rare set of 4 Meiji Period c.1900 yukata kimono stencils from Ise. Each piece is 2 laminated sheets of mulberry paper treated with a persimmons tanin and aged for 2 years by smoking for strength. The stencil carver then makes his or her own tools to carve out the desired patterns which are then applied with rice resist for the desired dying. Height of each of the 4 stencils is 14" and the width is 16". Ask for shipping quote.

A rare find for Kodo Arts, we are excited about this antique Japanese Edo Period c.1850 Buddhist temple lantern. The configuration is very unusual with the chrysanthemum middle section, the imperial royal family crest, sitting on a tripod legged base. Usually temple lantern come with a long stem.
