This beautiful bronze zen temple gong was made by one of Japan's great bronze craftsman who lived from The Meiji Period (1868) through the Showa Period. Famous for the gold shachihoko bronze fish on the roof of Nagoya Castle. This gong is dated Taisho 3 (Ca.1915). The writing has the date, the maker's name and all the donors' names. Excellent condition. H:56cm; diameter 30cm.

Absolutely fabulous bronze square-mouthed almost art deco flower vase in the original paulownia box, dated April, 1847. The kanji on the box reads: Koka 4 Nen Teimi Shigatsu, meaning 1847 in Edo Period in the 4th month (april) of the zodiac calendar. Hirota Gensho Motomu Nari meaning the piece was commissioned for a Mr. Hirota Gensho. On one side of the Kiri box is written: Sentoku Kabin, meaning it was a flower vase fired and colored with rice straw smoke. Stunning late Meiji Period Tamba Sembei Jar, Ca.1900. The writing on the jar says "Asakura" as this is an area in Tamba, north of Kyoto. These jars were used to transport Asakura sansho, a famous spice in this area to the capital of Kyoto. Excellent condition with beautiful natural wood-fired glaze patterns. H:30cm; diameter:23cm.
