Spectacular Edo Period C.1860 carved gold gilt lacquered wood dragon. On the inside of zen buddhist temples the altar has a gold ceiling hanging over the statue of buddha. Museum piece jizo boddhisatva dated on one side Kyoho 1 (c.1716) and on the other side, Tempo 2 (C.1830). Very special Bakumatsu (end of Edo Period) C.1860 signed Ceramic Kannon goddess of mercy diety from Bizen in central Japan, one of the premier pottery capitals of old japan. The potter/sculpter is Kokichi. From a buddhist temple, the bizen glaze has lichen spotting indicting it was outside in a shrine.
