Beautiful example of Mingei folk art from the Meiji Period. Dated Meiji 29 (C.1897) and signed on the back by the maker Takiguchi Hyokichi who carved this when he was 90 years old. In the original paulownia box. Has the paulownia leaf crest of Hideyoshi which means it was from Gifu. Statue is 10" high by 6" wide. Very good condition. Ask for shipping quote.

Spectacular pair of inner chamber gold gilt wood flower doors. The doors came from an Edo Period C.1650 buddhist shrine. On the other side of the gold flowers are gold gilt wood paulownia leaf and chrysantheum, the symbol of the Imperial family. The paulownia leaf was the crest of Hideyoshi, the second shogun. The flowers in carved relief are chysantheums. Each door is 24" tall and 7" wide. Ask for shipping quote.

Very sweet hearth pot stabilizing zelkova fish and iron hook on a bamboo pole with iron circle and fittings. A pot was held above the open hearth fire in old japanese minka farmhouses. The fish could be adjusted to adjust the pot. Years of fire smoke have created a patina on the fish and bamboo. The bamboo has iron bands on it and a few minor cracks. The fish is in great condition. Old farmhouse jizaikagi hearth hook that kept the pot stabilized over the irori or hearth in a minka or traditional japanese farmhouse.
