Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Very slight indentation on one of the hanging jewels but so slight you can only see at the right angle. H:51cm x W: 43cm. Ask for shipping quote.

Museum piece bronze temple lantern dated Bunsei 13 ( Edo Period C. 1830). Inscription on the base reads: Bunsei 13, Year of the tiger, November, Auspicious Day. Gosho - machi ( Gosho village) Shoei-Ji (Shoei Temple). Shoei Temple is a Jodo -shu temple in Nara established in C.1100. It was rebuilt in C.1577. Very rare Daruma scroll from Futo Sanjin better known as Kanokogi Takeshiro, (1874-1941). He was mainly a western style - painter, studied in France before returning to Kyoto to establish his own school. In his later years was a juror for the esteemed Bunten and Teiten Art expositions. Wabi - sabi Meiji Period c.1900 'aka' red bronze 'koro' incense burner. Square on four legs, the entire body has the thunder diaper motif and swirling flowers and geometrical designs. The lid has a mythical, playful 'shishi' lion. The legs all are adorned with mythical elephant heads. One end has been repaired, and the repair has been done with silver and a long time ago. Wonderful Meiji Period C.1909 painting of a white egret standing on bamboo by the acclaimed master Hishida Shunso (1874-1911). One of Okakura Tenshin's puils, he played a major role in the Meiji era innovation of Nihonga. His real name was Hishida Miyoji and he was also know for his numerous paintings of cats. He was commissioned by the Tokyo National Museum and in 1898 he joined Okakura Tenshin in establishing the Nihon Bijutsuin. In 1903-1905 he traveled extensively overseas holding exhibitions in The United States and Europe. He was awarded the Order Of Culture. Excellent condition. Looks to have been remounted.
