Large, thick bronze 'murashido' flower vase with patinated coloring and art deco look. 'Murashido' is a bronze finishing technique perfected in the Taisho Period c. 1912-1926 whereby hotly fired bronzes were dipped in a hot oil to achieve the spectacular coloring effects. Absolutely lovely old Meiji Period C.1890 Oribe tea pot with the distinctive blue - green Oribe hues and feldspar brown markings that make Oribe so desirable. Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Very slight indentation on one of the hanging jewels but so slight you can only see at the right angle. H:51cm x W: 43cm. Ask for shipping quote.

Great Taisho Period C.1920 'Koi' bronze carp swimming up the waterfall without the waterfall. Great patina. Actually holds water and is an ikebana flower vase for the tea ceremony. The carp represents courage and determination as it swims up the waterfall as depicted in many paintings and art works. Museum piece bronze temple lantern dated Bunsei 13 ( Edo Period C. 1830). Inscription on the base reads: Bunsei 13, Year of the tiger, November, Auspicious Day. Gosho - machi ( Gosho village) Shoei-Ji (Shoei Temple). Shoei Temple is a Jodo -shu temple in Nara established in C.1100. It was rebuilt in C.1577. Absolutely wabi-sabi murashi-do bronze flower vase in its original paulownia wood box. Dated Showa 27 (c.1953) the kanji on the box reads it was a dediction for a new building in Osaka for the Osaka Bank. Made by Shobi-Do, the premier maker of fine silver and bronze works in Osaka in the post-war era. Very rare Daruma scroll from Futo Sanjin better known as Kanokogi Takeshiro, (1874-1941). He was mainly a western style - painter, studied in France before returning to Kyoto to establish his own school. In his later years was a juror for the esteemed Bunten and Teiten Art expositions.
