Superb mingei folk art keyaki (zelkova) wood hook to hold the pot over the hearth fire in an old japanese minka farmhouse. Known in Japanese as `jizaikagi` this hook is in the ebisu sytle and stands as a perfect art object in the art deco genre. Many now are reproductions but one can tell a real one by the rope wear. This one also has a hole in the crook of the curve. (see pictures) Smoked by years of farmhouse cooking fires, the patina is rich and lustrous. C.1890. Keyaki or zelcova is the highest quality wood in Japan. Large at a height of 43cm and a width of 46cm. Ask for shipping quote.
