Stunning Edo Period C.1804-1829 large Arita porcelain charger signed on the back "Arita Kanyo" meaning this plate was hand painted and fired in a sacred shrine kiln controlled by the Nabeshima Clan. Arita porcelain was a top secret contolled exclusively by the Nabeshima clan and the 13 kilns they exported from. This plate is Koimari Kasei Stye meaning large blue and white charger. The thunder diaper design and dragon and swirls are all shinto and buddhist related symbols. Very art deco in style and appearance. 21" inches in diameter and in excellent condition. one tiny kiln firing scar in middle of plate. Ask for shipping quote.
