Ko-Kutani means old-Kutani or pre-Kutani. Kutani kiln is famous for its gorgeous overglaze enamels. In fact, Ko-Kutani did not made in Kutani kiln, made at the kiln in Imari area even ahead Kutani kiln. These pieces are called Nanjing(China)type and expressed bird and plants with overglazed gorgeous enamels by elaborate hand work. 5 pieces for one set are contained in wooden box, The seal mark expresses "大明成化”(GREAT MING CHENG HUA PERIOD), but while it is not real, it means just the mark.
