Japanese Hanakago, a hanging flower arranging basket by Gangansai, a flat tray form with overarching handles with a loop at the top, a small bamboo section as the vase and long bamboo stalk as the hanging hook which is signed. The signed wood storage box states that this is a "Four hand basket" made of white bamboo in Saga, Kyoto by the Osaka artist Gangansai. The vase portion split otherwise fine condition. Basket without hanger measures 13-1/2" High x 10" Square. Early 20th Century. $1,500.
