Mongolian Saddle Carpet, hand knotted wool pile and cotton foundation having a detailed multi-coloured match- book design of two elaborate floral medallions and small floral sprays on a solid blue ground surrounded by a shadowed Buddhist key-fret border on a red ground. Two supplemental leather appliqués around two of the four strap holes and a supplemental wool strip joining the two sides. Originally used as the top layer of a saddle blanket.
Minor signs of use and wear otherwise fine condition.
