Very unique ring by Sam Kramer, the 1950s New York based jeweler whose "expressive, organic work and surreal workshop, located on West 8th Street in New York's Greenwich Village, paved the way for other mid-twentieth century metalsmiths, and for many more working today" (Toni Greenbaum). I believe this might have been a custom piece made for a musician, as I can't find anything quite like it in the literature or online. This figural representation of a stylized violin has scale, measuring 1.25" long, and dimension, as the top of the instrument is drawn into a full loop. It is just over a size 7 and in excellent condition. It bears Kramer's distinctive mushroom hallmark as shown, and a partial "sterling" stamp.
