Landscape with Sheep by Robert W Van Boskerck, 16 x 22". Frame Size 26 x 32". Robert Ward Van Boskerck, 1855-1932, was an Impressionist landscape painter, who preferred quiet settled, setteled scenes drawn from his domestic and foreign travels. He was elected to the National Academy of Design, New York City, as an Associate in 1897, and an Academician in 1907. He exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, and other major museums He was an 1877 graduate of the Columbia University School of Mines. He received his artistic education from R. Swain Gifford and Alexander Wyant. During the early 1880s, he produced views of New Jersey and Long Island, and after that spent much time in Holland, France and England. He also painted in the Adirondack Mountains. His family (father Lucas Van Boskerck) lived in Bergen County, New Jersey from the 1860's to 1915 on the river at River Road and Anderson Stree
