From an early childhood Paco was encouraged The artist in Greenwich CT, 2003. and allowed great freedom to pursue a natural interest in the visual arts. With parents who were liberally and intellectually minded Paco recalls the excursions to the National Gallery and Phillips Collection from an early age and dinner table conversations that went from phi- losophy to politics and the latest artist that Paco's father was dealing with through his art and framing business. From these priceless beginnings Paco continued his education at the Uni- versity level, graduating from one of the best studio programs on the East coast with a BA from Virginia Commonwealth University in painting and printmaking with a minor in art history in 1993. Under the professorship of Javier Tapia Paco developed a critical and exis- tential use of paint that is still present in his work to this day. Paco's style and method of working incorporates many different modes, from pure abstraction to bold figurative and landscape work. Whether abstract or realist there is an unbroken line of thought that runs through Paco's work In the last four years Paco has made travel a part of his work. Traveling extensively through Vietnam and making a part time home in Puerto Rico has added new dimensions to Paco's paintings. From mist shrouded valleys and the eastern sensibilities of Vietnam to the rhythm and sun of the Caribbean, Paco is always searching and joining ways of painting from across the globe in a style that is uniquely his own.
