HENRI BURKHARD was born February 17, 1892, In New York City and, except for stady and travel in Europe, spent most of his life in the ManhattanArea. In Paris, Burkhard studled at the famed Academie Julian, Academie ColarossI and the Grande Chaumiere. In New York, he attended the Art Students League. During the 1920's, the artist was a frequent exhibitor with both the Whitney Studio Gallerles, forerunners of the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1926, he was among the group of artists to exhibit at the request of Gertrude Vanderbilt at the Inauguration of her gallery in New York City. Burkhard also showed his paintings in group and one-man shows for many years in New York City. An oil, "Table Tops" was acquired by the Whitney Museum In 1929 and remains in the collection today. Burkhard also has a work In the Palace of the Legion of Honor in Paris.
