A beautiful figural beaded purse displaying an elaborate scene with three figures dressed in 18th c garb. A gentleman is kneeling in front of a woman, either proposing or having presented her with a letter she is reading. Off to the right is a man playing a flute. At the left side of the purse is a structure enclosing a sculptural figure and fountain, while in the background is a large country home. The entire tableau is set amidst trees and foliage. The scene is the same on both sides.

The colors used in this work of art range from reds and pinks, through greens, browns, tans, taupe, white, and others. Nicely complementing this is a chased bronze frame adorned with green, red, and amber stones, topped by a clasp inset with carnelians. A stunning four color fringe completes this masterpiece. Tiny beads were used, with approximately 600 per square inch.

The condition of the purse is excellent, with no holes or tears. The lining appears to be gray silk, and also is in excellent condition. The clasp closes firmly and evenly. The purse is 7 5/16" wide, and 10 1/4" long, plus another 2" for the fringe.

Note: I could not get a good photo or scan of the entire length of the purse, so there are pictures of the purse down to the fringe, and a separate one of the fringe.
